ORIENTAL RUGS IN THE KITCHEN

Oriental rugs have always been a favorite of mine!  I would put them anywhere in my house but I especially love them in kitchens!  Between their vivid colors and fantastic patterns, how can you go wrong!  They are very durable, hide a multitude of stains and they only get better with age...jackpot!

I have had smaller orientals in front of my sink and the back door in the kitchen, but it may be time to get one for under my table.  There is just something about their lived-in, cozy feel that is so welcoming!
A classic example of how they can make a room feel so warm and comfy!
Nothing like being that 'wow' factor in the room!

I would love to see one on the other side of the island, agree?
I love how this rug looks on the dark wood floors.
The older...the better!
Anything touched by Jamie Meares is gold!
Cannot stop looking at those red chairs with that rug!
Shazam...
Love the color combination!
The bolder, the better!

What about you?  Would you put one in your kitchen?

  1. I LOVE this look! So colorful and unique, PLUS the pattern will hide stains easily. Mmmmm, daydreams have begun. If only I knew how to cook, and actually use a kitchen.

  2. Although I think having a nice rug in the kitchen is totally impractical, I do LOVE the way it looks. If I wasn't such a clutz when cooking I would get one for my own place:)

  8. LOVE! Some really great images as well....wonder how that one works with the rug under the furniture? I guess just like any other room. I would stress me not to be able to shake it out. :-)

  9. you know, when i put my rug in the kitchen, i thought the same thing - it will hide a multitude of sins. AND IT DOES. just the other day - i was baking a cake and flung batter all of the place and it was fine. thank goodness for this thing! and very pleasing on the eye too. i love all of the choices you presented, V!

  10. I love how it looks, but all of these beautiful antique rugs are to gorgeous to be in a kitchen. Can you imagine cake batter, spaghetti sauce on an antique rug!

  12. Nothing like an oriental to hide the dirt - I just have them cleaned in place every once in awhile!! Beautiful kitchens- hmm..notice they are all white! Beautiful post! Thanks

  17. I would have an oriental rug in every room if my house if I could. My parents have a lot of old ones in storage from when they downsized but they are all huge. I can't bring myself to cut them down.

  21. I would SO LOVE an oriental rug but my other half absolutely HATES them. Totally veto'd my dreams. Alas, these are the compromises one makes. It doesn't stop me, however, from living vicariously through these images. Absolutely fab. xxx

  23. Yes, there is definitely one in my kitchen. I actually prefer to have fine rugs in most rooms, particularly in common areas such as the kitchen and living room. Fine rugs could either give a casual or formal feel depending on the design. How many fine rugs do you have at home? How do you clean them? Jackelyn @ CristoMar.com
