It is week 3 of the 'Color My World Challenge' and this week we had to paint something
HOT PINK!
What was I going to paint HOT PINK in my house?!? That seemed to be the million dollar question that ran around in my brain the last few days! I know it seems so simple but when it came down to actually doing it, I was struggling. I had several ideas but then I could not find a home for them, so I naturally started thinking of doing something for my daughter's room. The HOT PINK hot spot in our house.
I decided to paint a little white plastic storage box that I bought at Ikea last week for my youngest daughter's room. She always has a stack of books thrown sitting on her bedside table and I thought this would be the perfect place to put them. I painted a chevron pattern on the front using acrylic paints in hot pink, orange and gold. I almost wish I did not add the letter 'D' to the front because I think it may be too much with the busy pattern... or maybe it should be another color? I think it may be a re-do tonight!!
I also painted a lampshade for my playroom HOT PINK! It thought I was on the brinks of DIY disaster because the shade started to pucker in a few spots when I painted it- aghh!!! Once it dried, they all came out. I think I need to add trim around the bottom of the shade to make it more visually interesting?? Anyhoo, I had another fun pinkalicious week and I am looking forward to next week-FABRIC, my favorite! I ordered an awesome suzani from Ebay last week that is...you guessed it HOT PINK!!!
I wish I was flexing my DIY muscles right now but I was struggling with the paint week challenge and the color hot pink! I don't have little girls and it is not a color I would normally use in my home. Truly a challenge! I feel like I kind of took the easy route by painting a lamp, but I did also paint my pencil holder! Lame? What can I say! I can't wait to see how all the other fabulous ladies in this challenge flexed their DIY muscles this week...
